Shoulder Pain
The shoulder is a really interesting joint – it has a huge amount of mobility – you can move your arm in every direction around your body. No other joints can do this! But because of it’s huge range of motion it is primarily stabilised by muscles, not tendons. This means that a group of muscles all have to work and move together to provide smooth movement of the shoulder joint. Muscles are much more prone to imbalances than tendons because they are actively contracting to stabilise the joint. Therefore shoulder injuries have to be treated different to other parts of the body.
